  • July 24 2008---The C & H will hold an open house 7:00pm-10:00pm for members of the Union Pacific Railroad Historical Society during their Topeka convention.

  • May 26 2008---Monday of Memorial Day weekend, the C&H crew will hit the road to Peppermint Park to participate in the traditional Memorial Day run with the Chance and Ottaway family and friends.

  • May 24 2008---Saturday of Memorial day weekend, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00p.m. Annual running of the Ray Johnson Memorial Run in honor of live steam pioneer Ray Johnson.

  • May 10 2008---The C & H will host a group from the Leadership Greater Topeka class. The class is made up of a cross section of leaders from the Greater Topeka community and represent a wide variety of men and women from all walks of life in leadership roles.

  • october 27 2007---we will have a special saturday visit from santa claus to the railroad. he plans to stop at the c & h on a trip checking to see if the boys and girls in this area are naughty or nice. he plans to arrive by train at 10:30am on saturday and we will have his throne and Christmas tree on the east dock of the cregut depot so youngsters can discuss their Christmas wishes. by late afternoon, santa will have to return to the north pole. you might want to bring lawn chairs and your camera.

  • october 13 2007---we will host volunteers from the kansas city northern 16" railroad. They run three g-16 mtc trainsets on sundays in season at line creek park in north kansas city.

  • september 22 2007---halt, who goes there! ...the c & h plays host to the topeka chapter of the military vehicles association. hail ceasar and gird your loins as the armored contingent rumbles through the c & h grounds with the featured "rolling thunder" review. having secured the area, we expect some of the invading conquerors to bivouac saturday night at the railroad.

  • june 8 2007---plenty of dots and dashes flying through the c & h telegraph wires as we host the 5th annual atsf communications employees reunion---believe me, these people know how code is really done!

  • october 14 2006---last steamup of the season hosting dragster jockeys (aka "geezer-gassers") and featuring barbeque and a giant pot of chile

  • september 4 2006---labor day run at c & h. we will run steam labor day 9:00am-5:00pm or later after it cools down a little. we plan to host harold and richard chance from wichita (their schedules permitting). you might want to plan to join us for this exciting day of fun with the people that made the little steam trains that still bring so much fun today.

  • july 4 2006---we will again be fortunate enough to assist Harold and Richard Chance with their annual 4th of July run at peppermint park in Wichita

  • july 1 2006---independence day warm-up/mini video shoot

  • may 29 2006---guest engineer ottaway number 1089 (harold chance's personal locomotive) at peppermint park memorial day celebration

  • may 27 2006---first annual ray johnson memorial day run featuring ottaway number "5" (true sequence number unknown) and number 1011 (aka smoky hill special)
